Brandy was born and raised in Upstate South Carolina, as the result of an unwed teen pregnancy. She was raised in a loving, conservative Christian family where her grandparents and great-grandmother had a large part in her upbringing. Her mother never received any aid from the government, and growing up, she was taught the value of hard work and forging one’s own destiny. This is the philosophy that shapes Brandy’s outlook and her life.
Brandy moved to Easley in 2010 after falling in love with the small-town feel and welcoming nature of the people of this community. She married Jonathan in 2011 and together they are the proud parents of Maximus (9) and Theodore (7). They attend 5 Point Church, and the boys go to McKissick Academy of Science & Technology through school choice. As a family they enjoy their community and especially being outdoors—on a long weekend, you will find them hiking or camping in the beautiful nature of Upstate South Carolina.
Brandy has taken an active role in civic life here in Easley. She regularly attends a variety of board and council meetings as well as local precinct level and community-lead meetings. Brandy’s love of her community is what inspired her to start holding her own public meetings, hosting local candidates so that voters could get to know who was running to represent them.
It was when she started canvassing across Pickens County and speaking with residents about their concerns that she began to prayerfully consider a run for public office. She had discovered that the majority of the people in this district shared similar values and frustrations.
